Sony Ericsson and cable television network AXN launched in late October the next phase of their communication entertainment strategy in Malaysia. During the launch, three new mobile phones—called Satio, Aino and Yari—and a preview of AXN’s production Cyril: Simply Magic were presented, said Sony Ericsson corporate vice president, head of Asia Pacific region, Hirokazu Ishizuka.

“Providing a powerful entertainment content line-up, from the latest movies, music and games, is made possible [sic] through our strategic partnership with our Sony sister companies, Sony Pictures and Sony Music, as well as other content partners,” said Ishizuka. “The fusion of Sony Ericsson communication technology and entertainment will deliver the ultimate user experience for consumers in Malaysia,” he said.

Ishizuka said the new phones, available from 2 November in Malaysia, come with high-quality Cybershot technology, Walkman sound quality, as well as a complete suite of content from music and videos to Playstation titles.

As an example of the new benefits offered by the phones, he spoke of the Aino phone. “Media Home is an application on Aino that pulls media content from Media Go on your PC over Wi-Fi to your phone automatically. Users just need to insert their Aino in its charging stand and it automatically synchronises with all the latest media content on their PC.”

“Every purchase of Satio, Aino or Yari comes with an Entertainment Passport, which offers a bundle of fun features including a number of free downloads of music videos, movies and games,” said Ishizuka, adding that Sony Ericsson is the proud sponsor of AXN’s brand new TV Special Cyril: Simply Magic.

“The show features Japan’s most winsome performing artist who has been blowing minds and server limits all over YouTube with his brand of street magic,” said SPE Networks Asia, senior VP and general manager, Ricky Ow. “Cyril is very focused on his mission, that is, to spread happiness through his magic. Hence this collaboration between AXN and Sony Ericsson is truly a dream partnership, as we both share the same vision of spreading the entertainment through Cyril’s magic.”
