KUALA LUMPUR, 28 SEPTEMBER 2009 – Two thousand students from the Cempaka Schools in Kuala Lumpur will be able to experience education on the go with iPhone 3GS from mobile services provider Maxis Communications (Maxis).

Under the partnership between Cempaka Schools [international schools group] and Maxis Communications, close to 200 units of iPhone 3GS would be introduced to the schools as part of a virtual learning environment (VLE) programme, according to Maxis vice president Fitri Abdullah.

“We created the VLE programme on platforms that are suitable for the Internet and also optimised for the iPhone,” said Cempaka Schools vice-chairman, Dr Iskandar Rizal Hamzah. “In addition, the school will introduce a series of iPhone applications that will be used in its everyday curriculum.”

Cempaka Schools has been a longstanding advocate of technology in the classroom,” said Dr Hamzah. We introduced the MacBook for each secondary school student in 2007 and we now look forward to the iPhone being a seamless extension of our learning environment.”

“The iPhone will open a whole new world of applications to us and will keep our students constantly connected and have ready access to their files outside the classroom,” he said.

“For instance, now when our students travel to external project sites, they will be able to use their iPhone to record, photograph, interview, and take videos for their project files on the go,” said Dr Hamzah. “Cempaka International Ladies College will take on the purchase of the iPhones and provide it to students as part of their natural learning environment. We already have all our resources optimised for the iPhone and we look forward to developing our own applications.”

Cinema and Technology: Up in the Air (2009)

I wanted to watch this movie because I read a blog that said: don’t let your boss watch "Up in the Air"? Why? I wanted to find out.
