HONG KONG, 2 APRIL 2009 – Research In Motion (RIM) will bring the BlackBerry Storm smart phone to Hong Kong in the second quarter of this year, said the Ontario, Canada-based wireless solutions provider.
The BlackBerry Storm smart phone supports third-generation, or high speed packet access (HSPA) network, desktop-style Web pages, multimedia capabilities including video recording, an expandable memory card slot, and a built-in global positioning system.
Winner of the Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough award at the Mobile World Congress 2009, BlackBerry Storm’s touch-screen depresses slightly when the screen is pressed to simulate a real typing experience. The touch-screen, called ‘SurePress’, enables virtual keyboards on the BlackBerry Storm to respond like a physical keyboard and the interface supports single-touch, multi-touch and gestures.
According to RIM, the smart phone supports multitasking so users are not forced to constantly open and close applications.
With HSPA connectivity and a built-in orientation sensor (accelerometer), BlackBerry Storm users can view websites in portrait or landscape modes.
