KUALA LUMPUR, 9 MARCH 2010 – A free download of Office 2010 beta is now available to all Malaysians, according to software giant Microsoft Malaysia.

“So far, more than 2,000 Malaysians have tried out the software, which can be downloaded from www.office2010.com.my,” said Microsoft Malaysia director of information worker group, Raveesh Gupta.

“Office 2010 System is an incredible platform, consisting of products, technologies and solutions to address tomorrow's productivity and collaboration needs,” said Gupta.

“[The software] is for customers across the spectrum: consumers, students and home users, to business leaders and IT professionals, the new Office System 2010 breaks new ground in terms of creativity, business intelligence, mobile productivity, cloud computing and communication,” he said, adding that the company has received positive feedback from many beta testers.

He said Microsoft is expecting 5,000 trials in Malaysia prior to the launch. “Early feedback from users has been hugely positive, with most saying Office 2010 increases their productivity by reducing the amount of time needed to do what they want to do.”

“Office 2010 provides the best productivity experience across the PC, phone and browser,” said Gupta. “It is full of new innovations that make using Office faster and easier than ever—including Office Backstage View, Ribbon UI across all applications, photo and video editing in PowerPoint, fast new data comparison tools in Excel, and improved mail and calendar management in Outlook. Together with the new Click-to-Run technology, home users will also have a dramatically faster download experience.”

“The Office 2010 beta download program is an open invitation to anyone looking to test the product and provide feedback to Microsoft to help shape the final product,” he said. “Together with the launch of office2010.com.my, Microsoft will be giving away one new, top-of-the-line HTC HD2 Windows Phone running on Windows Mobile 6.5, every month for the best Office 2010 beta user testimonials, along with other exciting gadgets and gifts every week. To stand a chance to win, users will only need to download Office 2010 beta, use it and then submit feedback on office2010.com.my.”
