HONG KONG, 28 JULY 2009 – Chipmaker Intel China and AirMedia Group (AirMedia), a China outdoor digital media network operator, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Beijing for joint innovation and collaboration on the application of Intel architecture products in the field of next-generation digital signage.
AirMedia also announced that it will procure the latest next-generation digital signage system based on Intel architecture from DT Research, a US-based web-enabled information appliances provider, and deploy the first batch of several hundreds of products at Terminal three of Beijing Capital International Airport before promoting the system at major airports in China and around the world.
AirMedia, Intel’s strategic partner in digital signage, DT Research, Intel’s key partner in the embedded device market and Intel all hope to strengthen their collaboration in digital signage by signing this MoU. Ultimately, they hope to promote technology and service innovation of next-generation digital signage, while expanding the market and steering the advancement of the Chinese digital signage industry.
According to this MoU, Intel will work with AirMedia to develop and promote digital signage solutions based on Intel architecture, including:
1) Digital signage solution that is based on Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset and supports Intel Active Management Technology (AMT);
2) Low-power and fanless digital signage solution based on Intel Atom processor;
3) HD multi-screen digital signage solution based on Intel Core i7 platform.
With this cooperation, Intel will provide AirMedia with relevant product platform technology, technical training and market promotion support and share its most recent experience in the global development of digital signage. AirMedia will deploy and promote the latest digital signage system based on Intel architecture in all major airports across China and provide Intel with the latest feedback regarding front-end market application.
The first Chinese airborne digital media network operator, AirMedia operates out-of-home advertising platforms in China targeting mid-to-high-end consumers. “With technology support such as Intel AMT, stronger software compatibility and better performance, the next-generation smart digital signage system based on Intel architecture can not only bring significantly improved digital advertisement display, but also increase operational and maintenance efficiency of our ‘airborne media network’,” said Herman Man Guo, chairman and chief executive officer of AirMedia.
