SingTel will launch the latest edition of iPhone on 10 July By Zafar Anjum

SINGAPORE, 3 JULY 2009—It’s been nearly a month-long wait but finally the iPhone 3GS is coming to Singapore.

Singapore telco SingTel has announced that iPhone 3GS, the fastest most powerful iPhone yet, would be launched here on Friday, 10 July 2009. Apple had unveiled the new version of the iPhone on 8 June in the US.

Dubbed the iPhone 3GS, the latest version of Apple's popular smart phone promises to launch applications and run software faster than the previous model.

While the iPhone 3GS looks similar on the outside to the previous 3G model, the new phone offers a brand-new camera that lets you control the focus either by tapping on the screen or using the autofocus feature. In addition, the iPhone's new camera captures video in addition to still photos—a heavily requested feature among iPhone owners.

Pricing plans will be announced early next week, said SingTel. In the US, the new phone sells for US$199 for the 16GB version and US$299 for a 32GB model. Apple had slashed the price on the current iPhone 3G to US$99 for the 8GB phone.

The iphone is well over priced here in australia and i went off to get a nokia n96-1 because it's got 900mhz & 2100mhz where the iphone has only 850 1900 2100mhz when is apple going to bring out an iphone that has 850 900 1900 2100mhz 3g umts they have to think of countrys in europe, australia new zealand and the middle east and asia and the south pacific and they would sell alot more iphones mayby triple the amount of the phones it would benefit people from europe who want to roam in the us and more country's are going over to 900mhz 3g for extra useage on the networks and here in australia one network uses 850 mhz and the rest uses 2100 mhz and 900 mhz 3g umts is comming on line with optus and vodafone and ive used optus 900 mhz 3g umts and it works better then 2100 mhz 3g umts. the iphone is more for the us market it mite let networks use 850 and 900 2100 mhz 3g umts and i would like to see a cell phone company do this as a triband network for the first time 25 Sep 2009 5:18pm
