Select 3Com solutions used to meet regulatory standards By AvantiKumar

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 SEPTEMBER 2009 – Four Malaysian financial services organisations have selected secure networks firm 3Com to roll out core-to-edge network upgrades.

According to 3Com Malaysia country manager Marcus Lai, the four organisations are Bank Muamalat, Agrobank, Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), SME Bank, Permodalan Nasional (PNB), and Syarikat Takaful.

“To comply with Bank Negara’s regulations, they have turned to 3Com for complete core-to-edge, secure, converged solution to enhance communications, increase customer intimacy, protect confidential customer information, which is vital especially with today’s global economic crisis,” said Lai.

“The banks have deployed 3Com’s switches and TippingPoint intrusion prevention system (IPS), which identifies, prevents or quarantines the problem in real time before it infects the rest of the network,” he said. For example, 3Com’s H3C S9500 switch is a robust, intelligent, multi-layer modular local area network (LAN) switch for enterprise environments where non-stop availability of critical applications and the highest performance, security, and granular control are required.

He added that 3Com’s networking solutions were the most energy-efficient in the industry, with a 33 per cent lower total cost of ownership. “Our no-compromise networking solutions are the key deciding factor for banks and other industry verticals, such as government and healthcare, worldwide including Malaysia in choosing 3Com.”
