14 Sep 2009

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 SEPTEMBER 2009 – A new partnership will enhance understanding of customers in the hospitality, leisure and entertainment industry, according to solutions firm Ascend Solutions and business analytics provider SAS Malaysia.

During the partnership launch, entertainment and leisure solutions firm Ascend Solutions’ senior vice president, business development, Thomas Ng, said: “The plan is to roll out business analytics adoption initiatives within Genting Malaysia [GENM], which is a leading leisure organisation, and subsequently to other business partners.”

Ng said greater adoption of advanced business analytics would spread to its clients, which included the Coffee Bean food and beverage chain and Parkson Group of retail outlets.

“One of the first to enjoy the fruits of this agreement will be Ascend Solution’s Genting-WorldCard Merchants, where Ascend will focus on business analytics adoption to these merchants; these include special bundles catered for their needs,” said Ng,

“Businesses need to embrace advanced analytics in their daily operations to better understand the demand-need patterns of their patrons and customers to push service standards to greater heights,” said SAS Malaysia managing director, Jimmy Cheah. “There are five different programs available to SAS Alliance Members, which include access to the benefits of SAS software through indirect channels as well as the training of customers in becoming experts in SAS-related solutions as well.”

“As a joint effort to drive business analytics uptake within this sector, SAS will provide Ascend Solutions the right technology and solutions while leveraging our experience and competencies in this specific sector,” said Ascend’s Ng. “Business analytics is simply the best tool suited towards helping retailers and those in the hospitality business to fully anticipate and respond to customer behavior, now and tomorrow.”
