M1 says HSPA+ network first in Asia Pacific to deploy MIMO By Zafar Anjum
08 Oct 2009

SINGAPORE, 8 OCTOBER 2009 –M1’s HSPA+ network will now be able to deliver Singapore’s fastest mobile broadband download speed of up to 28 Mbps in selected areas after the completion of further network upgrade by Huawei, the Singapore telco has said.

“The increased speed has been achieved with the installation of MIMO (multiple-input-multiple-output), making M1 HSPA+ network the first in the Asia Pacific to adopt this technology,” M1 told the media. “MIMO will be rolled out to the entire network progressively.”

Meanwhile, M1 will be offering mobile broadband service with download speed of up to 21Mbps islandwide from 3 October 2009.

According to the telco, the M1 HSPA+ network has been capable of delivering download speed of 21 Mbps since July this year. However, the launch of a commercial mobile broadband service at this speed has been held back till now due to the unavailability of suitable devices in the market.
