SINGAPORE, 5 JANUARY 2009 - SingTel has become the biggest provider for Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) services in Asia Pacific in terms of revenue market share, according to an IDC report.

IDC’s Asia Pacific Semiannual Fixed-Line Telecom Services Tracker, First Half 2008 report included figures from SingTel’s Australian subsidiary Optus. The study also compared major telcos from countries such as China, Korea and Australia.

Based on Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology, SingTel’s IP VPN service offers coverage in more than 65 destinations, including major Asian, European and US cities.

Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) system supports about tens of thousands of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) while providing customers with the ability to prioritise traffic through different classes of service.

Mr Bill Chang, SingTel’s executive vice president of business, said: “SingTel will continue to build on the strength of our IP VPN infrastructure to offer the best coverage, performance, reliability and value,” he added.
