SINGAPORE, 3 JULY 2009—The Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF) of Singapore has announced that it has begun accepting nominations for the SiTF Awards 2009,  the latest edition of its annual recognition programme that rewards leading lights in the national information and communication technology (ICT) scene.

"SiTF aims to engage and promote emerging trends, innovations and new developments of the local infocomm industry," said the organisation's executive director Ho Semun. "Through the SiTF Awards. SiTF is able to identify the Singapore infocomm industry's innovations, and recognise the industry leaders that form the heartbeat of the local ICT industry."

According to SiTF representatives, the programme this year will continue to be one that specifically seeks to give recognition to the innovative ICT applications and solutions that enable more efficient and low cost operations in various industries. Awards will be handed out in the following categories: ICT product/application/solution categories—which include an open category, infocomm Local Enterprise (iLE) category, startup and student (secondary and tertiary school projects) categories; and, ICT product/application/solution user categories—which cover both the public and private sectors.

In addition to the possibility of actually winning the awards, nominees should expect to gain the following just for participating: many opportunities to network with potential investors and business partners; feedback on their product offerings from the panel of highly experienced judges; chances to be shortlisted for other regional and local ICT awards such as the National Infocomm Awards, Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards and World Summit Awards; and, several high-profile occasions to showcase their winning applications or solutions under the SiTF banner.
