3Com and Telekom Malaysia to include multi-service routers’ platform By AvantiKumar
15 Sep 2009

KUALA LUMPUR, 15 SEPTEMBER 2009 –  A partnership with secure networks firm 3Com will help Telekom Malaysia (TM) deliver managed services, according to the Malaysian telco.

3Com Malaysia country manager Marcus Lai said the company is now TM’s managed CPE [Customer Premise Equipment] partner. “With  3Com’s multi-service router (MSR) platform, TM would be able to provide flexible and cost-effective services to its customers.”

“The managed services from TM will be delivered through 3Com’s partner Solsis (Malaysia),” said Lai. “Developed with an open architecture, the MSR routers will also be able to integrate enterprise-class open source applications including network management and security.”

“Our open network architecture gives TM the ability to provide new services with competitive pricing while not having to compromise on performance,” he said. “The MSR platform also provides operational simplicity as well as flexibility as network services can be changed or upgraded to meet communications needs in the future.”

“This new move builds on the existing relationship between 3Com and TM for the delivery of services such as IP-enabled virtual private networks (IP VPN) and metro ethernet to TM’s government, enterprise and small- and medium-sized customers,” said Lai.
