Will boost broadband coverage, says TM By AvantiKumar
26 Aug 2009

KUALA LUMPUR, 26 AUGUST 2009 – To boost broadband service coverage, Telekom Malaysia (TM) has signed partnership agreements with two telecommunications tower operators.

TM executive vice president, wholesale, Rafaai Samsi said the two separate partnership agreements with telecommunications tower operators—Konsortium Jaringan Selangor (KJS) and D’Harmoni Telco Infra—would benefit mobile, wireless and WiMAX operators in rolling out their broadband services.

“Under the five-year agreement, the parties committed to leverage their core competencies in providing backhaul connectivity and telecommunication tower facility services in supporting large capacity requirements and wider coverage for telecommunications industry,” said Samsi.

The agreements were signed by Rafaai Samsi on behalf of TM, while KJS was represented by Datin Zawati Abd Rahman, director, finance and admin, and D’Harmoni was represented by Haji Sukarno bin Sayuti, chief executive officer.

“KJS and D’Harmoni would provide telecommunication facilities (towers), and TM would provide wholesale ethernet and HSBB [transmission] services to the sites with speeds of up to 1Gbps [Gigabit per second]. TM has identified between 100 and 150 potential tower sites in Johor and Selangor,” said Samsi.

Samsi said TM would enter into similar collaborations with other telecommunications tower owners and operators in the country this year. “Through these strategic partnerships with wholesale partners, TM aims to continue playing a strong and supporting role in achieving the government’s broadband penetration target of 50 per cent by the end of 2010.”

Telekom Malaysia is a joke. Their customer service is almost non-existance (they hardly answer the phones or the line get cut-off). The 4mb/2mb internet line does the whole areas as advertised. (I know because i signed up for the 4mb line for my house in SS19/1G but the contractors told me the 4mb service is not available in my area as advertised by their company. Sometimes you wonder why God even allow Malaysians to run a Telco company which is still operating at the pace of the last millenium. I'm utterly disappointed with their crap service level.

Cinema and Technology: Up in the Air (2009)

I wanted to watch this movie because I read a blog that said: don’t let your boss watch "Up in the Air"? Why? I wanted to find out.
