Malaysia's Klang council ramps up document security, transparency: Canon

Klang is the first government council to fully use uniFLOW to strengthen document security and operations, says Canon Malaysia's Ooi Chik Hoe.

According to Klang Municipal Council, it is the first local council in the country to fully roll out digital and imaging solutions firm Canon's uniFLOW system to upgrade document security, and operations, as well as deliver cost savings.

At the start of a recent Integrity and Safety Awareness seminar held in collaboration with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, .Klang Municipal Council deputy Yang Dipertua Mohd Ikhsan Bin Mukri announced the launch of its cost saving initiative, which included the revamp of all printers and copiers to Canon's imageRUNNER ADVANCE series as well as the implementation of the Canon uniFLOW software solution.

"We practice a prudent approach to investments and make it our guiding principle in our decision-making process," said Mohd Ikhsan.  "By continuously encouraging this positive wave of transformation in our mindset and attitude, we are proud to be the first municipal council to intently research and revamp our systems to ensure that we are taking steps to effectively prevent abuse of assets, save cost and yet be able to raise our level of productivity."

Canon Marketing Malaysia director of the business imaging solution (BIS) division, Ooi Chik Hoe, said, "We strongly believe that our solutions, the level of professionalism and our competent technical support adds up towards making business processes simpler yet better."

"The working partnership with Klang Municipal Council has affirmed that our solutions are able to assist them with their cost-saving initiative, and we hope to work with many more local councils and government offices in similar projects," said Ooi.

 Culture of integrity

Also present at the seminar, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) assistant chief commissioners, community education division, Abdul Samat bin Kasah said civil society has an important role in helping MACC combat corruption and welcomed Klang Municipal Council's efforts to enhance its culture of integrity through the use of Canon systems.

Canon Malaysia's Ooi said uniFLOW software helped organisations of all sizes to consolidate enterprise output management into a single, unified platform for device management, while providing secure printing, document routing & accounting, mobile functionalities and cloud capabilities.

In addition, the imageRUNNER ADVANCE series ability to track and manage usage would help to reduce waste and promote more cost-effective printing, he said.
