Huawei has delivered its feature rich GSM-R radio system for the Harbin-Dalian CTCS L3 high-speed line that is now open for passenger operation.
Connecting China's major northeastern cities of Harbin and Dalian, this high speed 921km long rail line is providing passenger services in challenging permafrost, high-altitude environments.
This high speed line is integrated with a (Chinese Train Control System, CTCS) CTCS L3 solution supplied by a European signalling supplier.
The CTCS L3 signalling solution is fully coherent with the ETCS L2 (European Train Control System, ETCS) solution used in Europe (ERTMS). CTCS L3 allows train speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour and also ensures a very high standard in rail safety and reliability for the line.
Multi-vendor delivery team
A multi vendor delivery team rolled out the GSM-R - CTCS L3 system in the region, which was quite a difficult task considering the low temperature and long winters affecting the area.
However, all challenges were overcome and the line was put in place right before the upcoming Christmas festival passenger rush.
Reliability and safety are imperative for safe travel and Huawei addressed all the related requirements with its proven redundancy solutions such as geo-redundant MSC's and duo-location BSC's.
Huawei notes that this successful implementation demonstrates how railway customers' operational safety and operational efficiency can be improved by applying modern communication technologies.
