What is Application and Difference of Rubber Antioxidant MB, MMB, MBZ, MMBZ

What is an anti-aging agent?

During long-term storage and use of rubber and its products, due to the effects of heat, oxygen, ozone, metal ions with variable valence, mechanical stress, light, high-energy rays, as well as other chemical substances and mold erosion, it will gradually become sticky and change. Hard and brittle or cracked. This phenomenon in which the physical and mechanical properties decrease with time and the elasticity decreases is called aging. With the progress and development of the aging process, the properties of rubber and its products will gradually decrease and completely lose their use value. For this reason, it is necessary to add certain chemical substances to rubber and its products to improve its resistance to the above-mentioned destructive effects, delay or inhibit the aging process, thereby prolonging the storage period and service life of rubber and its products. It's called an anti-aging agent.

Classification of antioxidants: amine antioxidants (aldehyde amine antioxidants, ketone amine antioxidants, diaryl secondary amines, p-phenylenediamines), phenolic antioxidants (divided into monophenol, bisphenol, polyphenol) phenol), heterocyclic antioxidants, phosphite antioxidants, other antioxidants (long-acting antioxidants, nickel salts, waxes).

Application of antioxidant MB, MMB, MBZ, MMBZ

1. Anti-aging agent MB

*Used as an antioxidant for natural rubber, diene synthetic rubber and latex, and also for polyethylene.

* It has protective effect against oxygen, atmospheric aging and static aging, and can also effectively protect copper damage and overcome the adverse effects caused by excessive sulfur during product vulcanization. It can be used alone or in combination with other antioxidants (such as DNP, AP and other non-polluting antioxidants) to obtain obvious synergistic effects.

*It has a bitter taste and should not be used in food contact rubber products. It has an unstable effect on latex, and can also be used as a heat-resistant oxygen agent for plastics, with good thermo-oxidative stability.

*Easy to disperse in rubber, no discoloration in sunlight, slightly polluting.

*When used alone, the dosage is generally 1-1.5 parts. When the dosage exceeds 2 parts, the phenomenon of blooming will occur. The amount used in latex foam rubber is 0.5 parts.

2. Anti-aging agent MMB

*It can be used in natural rubber and synthetic rubber, and it has a synergistic effect with other antioxidants. When used in sulfur-free vulcanization, it can obtain good heat resistance. It can also be used as a vulcanization accelerator for neoprene and a heat-sensitive agent for rubber compounds. .

*As an auxiliary antioxidant, it has a good synergistic effect when used in combination with other antioxidants. It is easy to disperse in rubber, but the solubility is not large, it does not change color under sunlight, and it is slightly polluting.

*It can be used not only for white and light-colored products, but also for rubber wires and cables, conveyor belts, tapes, rubber shoes, etc., but not for rubber products that come into contact with food.

3. Anti-aging agent MBZ

*Mainly used for NR, CR, EPR, SBR, NBR.

*Its action is similar to MB, it has the effect of decomposing peroxide. It improves the unstable effect of MB on latex and prolongs the effect time.

*Used with thiazole accelerators to prevent copper damage.

*A good auxiliary heat sensitizer in latex and a good gelling agent.

4. Anti-aging agent MMBZ

*It is one of the varieties of non-polluting antioxidants. It is similar in performance to the antioxidant MBZ. It is used as synthetic rubber such as natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, butadiene rubber, nitrile rubber, etc. , Phenolic antioxidants have synergistic effect, improve thermal oxygen aging performance, can be used for nitrile rubber.

*When used together with accelerators M and DM, it has the effect of inhibiting the accelerated aging of harmful metals.

*Usually used for transparent rubber products, light-colored and bright-colored rubber products.

The difference between antioxidant MB, MMB, MBZ, MMBZ

The effects are basically the same, with slight differences. When used alone, the protective effect is moderate, and the protective effect is not obvious against the crack or crack growth caused by light, flexing, and ozone. However, when used together with phenolic and amine antioxidants, it can obtain excellent protective effect, effectively prevent copper damage, and has protective effect on oxygen, weather aging and static aging. Especially suitable for thiuram curing systems with low sulfur, high acceleration and heat resistance.

1. Characteristics of Anti-aging Agent MB

*It is beneficial to improve the retention rate of elongation after aging. In the absence of ZnO, MB has a strong plasticizing effect on the compound.

*When the dosage is high, it can improve the dimensional stability of the rubber compound, and when it exceeds 2 parts, it is easy to bloom.

*Suitable for heat-resistant compounds containing superspeed accelerators and sulfur-free high TT content, which can improve processing safety and storage stability.

*As a heat-sensitive agent in natural latex, it has a stronger heat-sensing effect than accelerator MZ, and the foam structure of foamed products is uniform.

2. Characteristics of anti-aging agent MMB

*The effect in thiuram/sulfenamide vulcanization system is obviously better than that of sulfenamide or sulfhydryl accelerator system.

*With MMBZ, it is suitable for heat-resistant oxygen and water-vapor aging compounds.

*Good heat resistance when used in sulfur-free vulcanization.

3. Characteristics of anti-aging agent MBZ

*Improve the unstable effect of MB on latex and prolong the effect time.

*It is a good auxiliary heat sensitizer in latex, the heat sensitive effect is stronger than MB, and it is also a good gelling agent.

*It has a slight inhibitory effect on the accelerators PX and ZDC in latex, and has an activation effect on TT, TS and DM.

*Combined with accelerators M and DM can effectively inhibit copper damage.

4. Characteristics of anti-aging agent MMBZ

*In HNBR, MMBZ has better antioxidant properties than MB and MMB.

* The influence on the vulcanization characteristics of the rubber compound is lower than that of the antioxidant MB, and there is no need to change the vulcanization system due to the use of MMBZ; in the latex foam products, MMBZ can be used as an auxiliary sensitizer, the foam structure is uniform, and the effect is better than that of MB.

*Used in combination with other antioxidants, it can be used in sulfur-free vulcanization systems, has good heat resistance, and can also be used as a CR accelerator.

*It can also effectively inhibit copper damage when used together with accelerators M and DM.

*The foam structure in foamed latex is uniform, better than MB.
