What is the crystal structure of bismuth telluride

What is Bismuth Telluride powder?

Bismuth telluride (Bi2Te3) is a grey powder, a compound of bismuth and tellurium, also known as bismuth telluride (III). It is a semiconductor, and when alloyed with antimony or selenium, it is an effective thermoelectric material for refrigeration or portable power generation. Bi2Te3 is a topological insulator, so it shows physical properties that depend on thickness.

Bismuth sulfide is soluble in nitric acid or hot concentrated perchloric acid but insoluble in alkali and ammonium sulfide. Bismuth sulfide and antimony sulfide are isomorphous and have a complex network structure. Bismuth sulfide is also soluble in halogen acids (except hydrofluoric acid).

Applications of Bismuth Telluride powder

Bismuth sulfide (Bi2S3), as an important semiconductor material, is widely used in the manufacture of visible light band photoelectric devices, automatic camera control illuminance meters, photoconductive drums, solar cells, laser modulation cells, visible light detectors, laser window materials, infrared dichroic detectors, photoluminescence, electroluminescence and cathode ray luminescent materials.

Bismuth telluride chemical formula Bi2Te3. Used in semiconductor, electronic refrigeration and power generation. Dogs, rabbits and rats exposed to bismuth telluride dust had lung reactions and gained weight, but the activity of alkaline phosphatase in blood serum and organs did not change.

The United States stipulates that the allowable concentration in the atmosphere is 10mg/m3. For nearly half a century, scientists have systematically and extensively studied thermoelectric materials, among which bismuth telluride and its solid solution are the earliest and most mature thermoelectric materials.

Because of bismuth telluride's excellent physical properties, scientific researchers have never stopped studying bismuth telluride.

The crystal structure of Bismuth Telluride powder

The crystal structure of Bi2Te3 is a rhombohedral tetradymite-type with the space group R-3m and is described by a hexagonal unit cell, as shown in Fig. 1. The unit cell is composed of five covalently bonded monatomic sheets along the c-axis in the sequence –Te(1)–Bi–Te(2)–Bi–Te(1)–Te(1)–Bi–Te(2)–Bi–Te(1)–.

Price of Bismuth Telluride powder

Bismuth Telluride powder particle size and purity will affect the product's price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of Bismuth Telluride powder. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The price of Bismuth Telluride powder can be found on our company's official website.
