What is the Application Field of Zirconia | Mis-asia

What's zirconia?

Zirconium dioxide has the chemical formula ZrO2. It is the principal oxide of zirconium. The crystals are usually white with no odor and taste. They can be dissolved in water, hydrochloric, or dilute sulfuric. It is chemically inactive and has properties such as high melting point and high resistivity.

Zirconia's main application areas

The raw materials for metal zirconium or its compounds

It is useful for the production of metal zirconium or zirconium compound, as well as making refractory and crucible bricks and other ceramics. Primarily used to make piezoelectric ceramic products as well as household and refractory ceramics. This is used for the manufacture of non-ferrous metals like steel and aluminum, as well as optical and zirconium dioxide fibres. Ceramic pigments, electrostatic coatings, and baking varnishes all use it. You can use it in epoxy resin to prevent saltwater from corroding.

Refractory

Zirconia fibre is a refractory polycrystalline fiber material. ZrO2 fiber is a high-temperature refractory fibre material that has excellent melting points, resistance to oxidation, and other outstanding properties at high temperatures.

Zirconia fibre can be used at high temperatures above 1500 degrees Celsius for extended periods of time. At 2200 degrees C, its maximum service temperature, it will maintain the fiber shape. ZrO2's resistance to acid and alkali erosion is superior to that of Al2O2 and SiO2. Water insoluble, hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids insoluble; slightly solubilized in hydrochloric and nitric acids. Zirconate can be formed by fusing it with alkali.
