What is a DC electric vehicle charging station? 
The DC charging pile is a special DC device that can directly connect the electric vehicle to the AC/DC grid (power supply) side, and is equipped with a control guide to ensure the reliable connection between the charging pile and the electric vehicle and the safety of charging, etc. It also integrates functional modules, including HMI interactive systems, charge management systems such as OCPP, and local and remote communication interfaces to promote the use and management of the dedicated equipment.
The DC charging pile provides DC power to the battery pack of the EV, and under the management of the on-board BMS system, the energy supply of the EV is finally realized.

Functions of DC EV charging station
In the future, DC EV charging stations will replace AC chargers and become the best choice for charging most electric vehicles.
AC chargers provide household charging and slow charging, usually 220V single-phase AC input, while DC chargers usually require 480+ volts and 100+ amperes (50-60 kW) input. Using a battery with a range of 100 miles, it can fully charge an EV in more than 30 minutes (charging 178 miles per hour). At present, the DC charger produced by Grasen reaches 150kW to 300kW.

How does the DC EV charging station work? 
The work of the DC EV charging station is divided into 4 steps:
(1) Low-voltage auxiliary power-on and shaking stage:
First, insert the charging plug into the vehicle and make sure that the connection is correct;
Low-voltage auxiliary power-on and start to supply power to the BMS;
Insulation monitor detection / IMD (high voltage output of charger to ground)
BMS sends messages, including information such as battery type, battery power, voltage, manufacturer, charging time, and charger identification code;
(2) Start configuration of charging parameters:
BMS sends single battery information (maximum allowable charging voltage and current)
Nominal battery power
Maximum allowable charging voltage
Maximum allowable temperature
Battery pack charging status
Battery current and voltage
The maximum output power sent by the charger (maximum output voltage, minimum output current, maximum output current)
Charging stage
BMS sends the battery charging request in time (voltage, current, charging method: constant voltage or constant current);
The charger adjusts the voltage and current according to the requirements;
BMS sets the charging completion conditions;
When the BMS request voltage and current are 0, the charger outputs according to the minimum output capacity;
The BMS sends the battery status during the charging process, allowing the charger to identify the battery charging voltage and current during the charging process, the measured value of the charging voltage (V), the measured value of the charging current (A), the maximum cell voltage, the current SOC (%) and Estimated charging time left (min);
(3) Charging completion stage
BMS sends charging statistics, such as SOC, battery voltage, and battery temperature;
The charger sends output power, charging time, and charger serial number;
Stop auxiliary low-voltage power output;
(4) End the charging process
Charging follows a curve, charging starts slowly, while your car monitors multiple factors (from the charge level of the battery to the weather outside) and climbs to the peak speed for as long as possible, then reduces the speed again by about 80% to extend the battery life.

How fast is the 150kW DC EV charging station?
The 150kW DC EV charging station can realize smart charging, which can be charged to 80% in 30 minutes and fully charged in 1 hour. Usually, it is equipped with two charging plugs, and when charging at the same time, it will share the same 75kW charging power. When the battery power is high, it will affect the charging speed.
