Graphene is perfect for heat dissipation. What happens if this material is applied to textiles to make clothes?

Scientists at the University of Manchester have developed a new type of smart textiles that can be made into adaptive clothing so that the wearer can keep it fresh when it is hot and vice versa.
 
This breakthrough development is based on the previous work of the research team. It is reported that the team previously used graphene to create a thermal camouflage to hide the wearer's heat from infrared cameras. This material can be transferred to the graphene layer of the embedded content by a small current. This can change the amount of infrared radiation emitted through the surface of the material. In a demonstration, it can be used to block the infrared camera's thermal signal to the human hand. Now, the team is focusing on the decisive role of its adjustable textiles.
 
Because the higher the temperature of the human body, the more infrared radiation is emitted, so the clothes are designed to allow the radiation to pass freely to maintain the lower body temperature. Also, they have designed costumes that lock the radiation and keep the wearer warm. Now, the team has adjusted its smart textiles so that it can play the role of these two states at the same time and dynamically switch between the two countries through electronic adjustment. The ability to control heat radiation is essential for some critical applications, such as temperature management of the body in over-temperature climates. However, maintaining these functions when the environment is warming or cooling has always been a big challenge.
  
The research team demonstrated this dynamic heat radiation control by making a prototype of a garment. But they envision this ability can be used for various other purposes, such as interactive display and even adaptive spacesuits. Recently, the team hopes to explore its potential to resolve the extreme temperature fluctuations facing orbiting satellites.
 
The next step in this research area is to address the need for dynamic thermal management of Earth-orbiting satellites. Satellites in orbit experience extreme temperatures when they face the sun, and they freeze when they are in the shadow of the earth. We can achieve dynamic thermal management of the satellite by controlling the heat radiation and adjusting the satellite temperature as needed.
 
This material uses graphene to achieve this. Graphene can be adjusted to change the thermal radiation of textiles. The research team believes that this technology can also be applied to advanced displays and even spacesuits.
