iPhone 14 will have a perforated display design

Last week, the South Korean website The Elec reported that the 6.1-inch ‌iPhone 14‌Pro and the 6.7-inch ‌iPhone 14‌Pro Max will use a perforated display design.
The previous notch was called the TrueDepth camera array by Apple and was a controversial design decision introduced on the iPhone X in 2017. The subsequent iPhone models remained unchanged until the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro slightly reduced their size. On the ‌iPhone 13‌, the TrueDepth camera array includes an infrared camera, floodlights, front camera, and point projector, and the speakers are moved to the top of the case.

This perforated cutout allows the Apple mobile phone to have a display area, while also leaving enough space for the front camera. But this design means that the hardware required for Face ID will be placed under the display.
Apple analysts have repeatedly claimed that ‌iPhone 14‌Pro and ‌iPhone 14‌Pro Max will use a punch-hole camera design instead of a groove. And Elec's latest report adds credibility to this rumor.
Barclays analysts claim that Apple is planning to adopt a laser time-of-flight architecture to allow a substantial change in ID to introduce a front TrueDepth camera array, and other rumors point to an integrated lens design to reduce the size of the front camera module.
It is believed that Apple is also developing the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and replacing the 5.4-inch “mini” iPhone with the new 6.7-inch “iPhone 14Max”. It is expected that these two models will maintain the original level, and the punching design is only applicable to Apple's high-end iPhones.
