BT extends outsourcing contract with Unilever

Gets an additional US$220 million deal

SHENZHEN, CHINA, 15 JULY 2010 - BT has signed an additional US$220 million outsourcing deal with Unilever that is set to accelerate technology innovation in a range of services.

The first contract was inked in November 2002 and was worth about US$1.3 billion. BT said it was one of the largest telecommunications outsourcing contract in UK corporate history. Over the next four years, BT will focus on services such as unified communications, messaging, supply chain, wireless technology and agile working in more than 100 countries.

Global relationship

Unilever and BT already have a working relationship with the latter supporting services across the former's three operating regions. BT aids in the design, management and operation of a secure fully integrated end-to-end IT networking infrastructure.

BT is covering an integrated platform that delivers data, voice, video and mobility services to about 1,000 sites.

These services are aimed at helping Unilever to operate in all its markets. In addition to supporting its employees, these services will also support consumers, customers, partners and suppliers.

Transformation and growth plans

Building on joint investment, the alliance will support Unilever's rapid pace of innovation. The client will greatly benefit from BT's global innovation and development capabilities and the practitioners will share their knowledge of people, processes and developing technologies.
