Interview: COO, Domino’s Pizza Singapore & Malaysia

Ba-U Shan-Ting, chief operating officer of Domino’s Pizza in Singapore and Malaysia, shares a slice of the fast food chain’s customer-centric approach that focuses on leveraging technology optimally in its business processes.

Besides overseeing the day-to-day operations at Domino’s Pizza in Singapore and Malaysia, the key to my role is ensuring the consistency of world-class service and products, which is characteristic of the Domino’s Pizza brand. It involves commitment to grow the brand and scale up the business across both Malaysia and Singapore.

The food and beverage industry is always evolving with ever-changing consumer preferences and tastes. To stay relevant to our customers, it is important for the COO to have foresight in anticipating the demands of the industry in response to evolving customers’ needs, and to make the necessary strategic moves to evolve the brand and business processes accordingly.

What key IT priorities are shaping your agenda for 2012 and beyond?

The key IT priorities are:

1.    Developing the IT infrastructure backbone to the business through the role of SAP ERP;
2.    Leveraging the increasing broadband and smart phone penetration; and
3.    Understanding the changing trends in communication and connectivity and developing a strategy to better leverage these changes in the business.
