The properties of molybdenum disulfide

It becomes thinner at high temperature and freezes at low temperature, which affects the normal operation of mechanical equipment. The temperature resistance of silicone oil is 250°C, and the temperature resistance of refrigerating machine oil is -45°C, and their temperature range is far lower than that of molybdenum disulfide.
Molybdenum disulfide has strong corrosion resistance and is unstable to various strong oxidants. Molybdenum disulfide is insoluble in cooling water and boiling water. It can maintain a high degree of chemical stability in grease, alcohol, and ether.
 
 
(3) Compression resistance
Because molybdenum disulfide has a layered structure, the sulfur atoms and molybdenum atoms are firmly bonded. Its compressive performance is unmatched by other lubricating materials. The sulfur in molybdenum disulfide is an active element, and it interacts with the metal atoms on the clean surface. Strong adsorption, so the adhesion of molybdenum disulfide on the metal surface is very strong, and it is not easy to be damaged during friction, so it cannot withstand high loads.
(4) Adhesion performance
Due to the strong binding force between sulfur atoms and metals, molybdenum disulfide has a strong adsorption force on the metal surface. The extremely thin molybdenum disulfide can play a good lubricating effect and can maintain a long life.
(5) High vacuum resistance
Lubricating oil will evaporate in a high vacuum, and will have an adverse effect on the degree of vacuum and the substances in the vacuum, while molybdenum disulfide is not. The friction coefficient of molybdenum disulfide in vacuum is lower than that in the atmosphere. Molybdenum disulfide It still has excellent lubrication performance under ultra-high vacuum conditions, so molybdenum disulfide is an effective lubricating material under high vacuum conditions.
