Cloud solutions provider expands in AP

Parallels signs up major partners and commits to more investments in the region.

A provider of solutions for hosting and cloud services recently beefed up its presence in the region by signing up major partners, launching new solutions, and hosting a conference in Singapore, site of the regional sales headquarters.

Washington, U.S.-based Parallels also announced major deals and recognised some of its channel partners in the region that have helped them achieve growth recently.

Parallels develops virtualisation and automation solutions for major hardware, operating systems and virtualisation platforms.

In the last 12 months, it has won over some service provider partners, including South Korea's KT, Datec, iiNET, Ride, Softbank Korea, Telekom Malaysia, and UberGlobal in Australia. It has also expanded its network of distribution partners to include Kryptos in India, PromptNow in Thailand, and Vinacis in Vietnam.

"Our Asia Pacific partners represent strong regional hosting brands, and we're delighted to be able to help them quickly and easily profit from the shift to the cloud. We are thrilled to see the growing diversity of players who continue to market their own unique value propositions focused on serving the diverse IT needs of small and medium businesses in this region," said Birger Steen, CEO, Parallels.

Market focus

Parallels said their regional partners have helped them reach out to the small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and developing markets in the region. Parallels said it has been focused on the SMB market in the region and will continue to invest in solutions that will help SMBs with their IT needs. The decision to focus on SMBs is partly backed by its own research, titled "Parallels SMB Cloud Insights", which indicate that SMBs are realising the benefits of using cloud services for their IT needs.

"There are a number of SMB customers in South Korea who have been waiting for critical business applications that are easy to subscribe to with no upfront costs. And being small and nimble, they do not want to worry about updates and software maintenance," said Jung Min Woo, vice president, KT. "Parallels Automation has the ability to address this critical business need, and takes it another step further by enabling our reseller partners to quickly offer on-demand software that SMBs need to be successful in today's competitive environment."

Steen said Parallels will continue to invest in the region as they continue to meet the growing demands of the SMBs, and help their partners achieve profitability.

Parallels said they have experienced over 75 percent growth in the region in the first half of the year.
