Developing and managing connected applications on any cloud, mobile or social platform is now made easy with Progress Pacific, a platform by global software company Progress Software Corporation.
Connected applications integrate with real-time data from multiple sources for faster business reaction, analysis and problem solving. However, many developed software applications today lack data from other systems to run optimally or are typically confined to a specific service platform.
Progress Pacific counters this by allowing companies to tap into various SaaS, relational database, NoSQL, Big Data, social, CRM and ERP sources for automated, context-aware applications.
The platform also uses the technology from data connectivity provider Progress DataDirect to maximise the full value of an application by allowing faster integration, analysis and decision making.
For app development, Progress Pacific offers point-and-click, drag-and-drop app development tools in a standard browser, enabling companies to save time and money.
Cloud applications created on the platform are environment-agnostic — it can be deployed in cloud, on-premise or a hybrid — and can be connected to existing applications including OpenEdge and Corticon.
Stephen McNulty, managing director, Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) at Progress, said: "As software spending in Asia Pacific is expected to grow by 11.9 percent in 2013 to reach US$33.9 billion — driven by mature markets like Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea — there is greater demand for more integrated platforms that meet the needs of fast-paced business environments."
"The new Progress Pacific platform will benefit businesses and ISVs in Asia Pacific as we see greater consolidation of cloud computing, mobility, big data and social media across all industries."
The Progress Pacific platform will be generally available in Progress' fiscal Q3.
