Hackathon challenges Filipino students to develop viable tools using AI

The winner will be awarded a total of PHP 100,000 in prizes.

Freelancer.com - a global freelancing, outsourcing, and crowdsourcing marketplace - will run its second intercollegiate hackathon on 31 March to 1 April 2017 in the Philippines. Titled 'Hackzilla in Manila 2', the theme of the hackathon is"Explore Possibilities with Artificial Intelligence".

Interested college students must be currently enrolled in a Commission on Higher Education (CHED)-accredited school. Each team must consist of maximum five members, and submit a two-minute video outlining their hackathon pitch.

Only 10 teams will be selected by the organising committee, consisting of senior engineers and employees of Freelancer.com, to compete in the event.

The video can be submitted from now till 28 February 2017. Selected teams will receive an e-mail by 15 March 2017. The winning team will take home a total of PHP 100,000 in prizes.

The projects will be judged by representatives from Freelancer.com, DevCon, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
