IBM introduces software portfolio for Hong Kong SMBs

IBM has launched a software portfolio targeted at SMBs in Hong Kong.

HONG KONG, 6 OCTOBER 2008 - IBM launched Thursday a software portfolio targeted at SMBs in Hong Kong.

Jeffrey Chang, executive, Software Group, IBM China/ Hong Kong said that Big Blue it has increasing its dedicated resources in the local SMB market, which IDC is forecasting to grow at 6.4 per cent per annum from 2007 to 2011.

Highlights of the portfolio include Lotus Foundations Start, Cognos 8 Midmarket Reporting Packages, and Tivoli Storage Manager FastBack.

According to the vendor Lotus Foundations Start, which includes e-mail, office productivity tools, network security, data protection, and backup and recovery features can be deployed within 30 minutes and enables collaboration in companies with headcount ranging from five to 500 employees.

IBM added that the Cognos 8 MidMarket Reporting Packages includes core applications and modular capabilities for dimensional reporting and dashboarding, scorecarding, analysis, business event management, and data integration.

IBM's recently announced tools for SMBs also include Rational Team Concert which the vendor claimed allows dispersed software development teams to collaborate with a real-time and transparent view; Tivoli License Compliance Manager, which helps SMBs manage software costs and license compliance; and Lotus Symphony, which offers a set of office productivity tools for SMBs to create, edit and share documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
