Indonesia’s XL Axiata bets on Teradata for data warehousing

Telecom operator sees BI features of Teradata solution as key in driving revenue growth.

With mobile operators thinking of more creative ways to drive revenues, Indonesia's XL Axiata is counting on Teradata's data warehousing solutions.

The Indonesian mobile operator said it has selected Teradata's Active Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) platform which provides analytical data that XL needs, including historical information for future data warehousing processes.

Teradata said its solution can help XL improve its services with the solution's simplified reporting processes. Aside from addressing users' ad-hoc queries, Active EDW platform is expected to make possible near-real-time customer profiling for XL Axiata's campaign management activities.

Mohammed Ali, senior vice president, XL Axiata, noted that enterprise data warehousing and competitive analytics, are the 'key pillars' to boost XL's revenues.

Proven track record

Ali said XL has chosen Teradata because the data warehousing solutions provider has the proven track record in assisting large companies attain their goals.

"Teradata has the solutions that will help us achieve both our short-term and long-term goals, Ali said. "Teradata's products are proven for large enterprises like ours that need to manage massive volume of data to generate mission-critical insights, analysis and reports in a timely manner, he added."

Noel Pettitt, vice president, South Asia, Teradata Corporation, said the solution will also help XL front-end staff effectively address customer queries in real time.

While promising better warehouse performance for XL's present needs, Teradata said it will also lay the foundation for future data warehouse processes of the mobile operator.
