International information management firm Nuix has recently extended 1000 licences to Asia of a 'limited edition' of its eDiscovery technology solution Proof Finder, which provides targeted investigations services.

Nuix chief executive officer Eddie Sheehy said in late December last year that the investigation software could help Malaysian businesses and government departments as well as local lawyers and investigators handling small cases, with 100 percent of the proceeds of the special edition going to the charity Room to Read, which helps improve literacy skills among primary school children in developing countries.

"As the Malaysian business community continues to grow and mature in line with international best practice, many local companies are now faced with the challenge of how best to manage instances of IT misuse, and how to carry out small, targeted company investigations more efficiently when they involve electronically-stored information," said Sheehy.

"The storing and emailing of pornography, along with intellectual property leaks, fraud and other inappropriate behaviour, can not only impact staff internally, but also has the potential to seriously damage a business' wider reputation in Malaysia and across the region," he said. "Proof Finder offers Malaysian companies a proactive, cost-effective way to protect both their sensitive information and business reputation."

"Even though the size of their investigations might be small in terms of Nuix's normal application, it can still be incredibly difficult or even impossible to find evidence without good eDiscovery and electronic investigation technology," said Sheehy.

"Nuix wants to give something back to the legal and investigation community and also help children in the developing world," he added.

The special edition annual licence ( will be available at a cost of US$100 each until 8 February 2012, said Sheehy. "Proof Finder has the same processing, search and analysis capabilities as other Nuix eDiscovery and electronic investigation solutions, but with a 10Gb (gigabit) data limit."
