How HP is addressing challenges in the Managed Print Services segment in Asia Pacific--as explained by Pierre Mirlesse, vice president, managed enterprise solutions, imaging & printing group, APJ, HP, in an exclusive interview.

How is HP placed in the Managed Print Services (MPS) market in Asia Pacific?

HP remains the leader in Managed Print Services (MPS) globally and across the Asia Pacific region. Photizo Group's 2010 market share reports put HP as the largest MPS vendor with 35 percent share. Eight of the top 10 global FSI firms are HP MPS clients and seven of the top 10 global telecommunications firms are HP MPS clients. As the largest technology company in the world, HP enables its enterprise customers to maximise the value of their overall IT investments and their imaging and printing environment by offering:

  • Broadest product portfolio
  • IT heritage and MPS expertise
  • Strongest support and partner ecosystem
  • Industry-leading management tools and solutions
  • Global consistency and scale

What challenges does the MPS segment face and how is HP addressing those challenges?

A traditional challenge for the MPS segment is educating enterprise customers in recognising how a managed printing environment leads to reduced imaging and printing TCO through optimised infrastructure and improved document workflow, as many enterprises focus on solutions and hardware at the device level to improve efficiency.

HP's Imaging and Printing Solutions Experience Centres provide a comprehensive and interactive platform for enterprises to understand the value and real cost benefits of Managed Print Services and to see firsthand how MPS enables enterprise customers to maximise the value of their overall IT investments and their imaging and printing environment.

Why has HP opened new solutions centres in Australia and India and what is their role?

HP recently opened new solutions experience centres in Perth and Bangalore because the HP Imaging and Printing Group recognises the strengths and growth opportunities of both markets, and is dedicated to providing the knowledge and hands-on experiences delivered at the centres that enable our customers and partners to achieve success through a managed imaging and printing environment, optimised infrastructure and improved workflow.

How can HP's enterprise solutions help companies improve efficiency and productivity?

HP Managed Print Services helps enterprise companies better manage costs by simplifying the management of their imaging and printing environment, allowing managers to focus on their core business. It focuses on three key elements. These include:

1.      optimising infrastructure-the type and number of devices;

2.      managing the environment to maintain IT efficiency;

3.      improving workflows or streamlining paper-based processes, which is really fundamentally how companies do business.

MPS provides a clear path for turning printing and imaging into a vital, value-added asset that drives actual business growth.
