Can MPS really help Singapore enterprises become more competitive? How?
By centrally managing and better optimising an enterprise's printing environment through Managed Print Services, enterprises in Singapore can gain comparative advantage by reducing costs and energy usage, leveraging content from the cloud and improving efficiency and document workflow.
According to a Gartner report, "Actively managing office printing can lead to a reduction of 10 to 30 percent in recurring spending on document output." This savings in document output expense consequently frees up resources for other areas in which the company can secure competitive advantage.
An example of how MPS can provide competitive advantage through greater efficiencies and streamlined workflow is what we did with Disney. The company set forth with four key goals:
o Improve operational efficiency
o Environmental sustainability
o Improve user satisfaction
o Cost reduction
The results speak for themselves
o Previous fleet of 44 imaging and printing devices to current fleet of 14 MFPs in Disney Singapore office ~ 68 percent reduction in fleet size
o Cost savings of 20-25 percent of Disney's imaging and printing costs with the deployment of HP Managed Print Services
o By default duplexing on the network, Disney estimates to save about 30 percent of paper consumption, but the company saw paper savings of about 38 percent ~ more than 325K sheets of paper/year = more than 40 trees/year
o Disney also estimates energy savings of about 61 percent for their imaging and printing fleet
o By adopting pull printing through the HP Access Control (user-authentication - ie. tap and print), Disney was able to incorporate security features to protect its documents especially with focus on intellectual property. There's control and users printed less, while being able to print from any device in any department.
o Supplies/Consumables fulfilment used to be manual, now HP has offered an automated process through remote monitoring services and HP Web Jetadmin, so that automatic reordering is enabled, which frees the organisation from supplies-related issues and help desk queries.
