MIMOS urges Malaysian companies to tap smart homes opportunity

Malaysia's national applied research agency MIMOS has offered a vision at NICE'15 in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre of what future homes may be like.

Malaysia's national applied research agency MIMOS's vision of the possibilities of future homes has attracted the crowd's at the recent National Innovation Conference Exhibition (NICE'15) at the Kuala Lumpur Conventon Centre.

Themed 'Home of the Future: Safe, Smart and Healthy Living' included advanced technology solutions in home-based healthcare and wellness as well as community safety.

In addition, MIMOS presented smart access and intrusion detection, a smart dashboard to monitor interior temperature and humidity, water acidity, garden environment, aquarium conditioning as well as smart lighting for ambience setting and energy conservation.

In the Wellness and Neighbourhood section, the agency displayed smart devices that can monitor vital statistics such as body temperature, blood oxygen concentration and pulse rate.  Also on exhibit are technologies for community and crime watch using Big Data Analytics (BDA).

MIMOS said it will welcome enquiries from Malaysian companies that ate considering to commercialise the technologies, many of which were ready for adoption by the industry. To date, the agency has already transferred 20 technologies to 61 companies.  Technologies in intelligent home and healthcare are some of the latest outputs from their laboratories.
