KUALA LUMPUR, 17 MARCH 2009 - Iceblast, a strategy game by Malaysian company Zombie Gecko has been officially launched by Big Fish Games (www.bigfishgames.com) and Reflexive Arcade (www.reflexive.com), leaders in online destinations for online games.
Government agency Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) chief executive officer said that Zombie Gecko, founded in 2007, was awarded a RM50,000 (US$13,600) grant by the MSC Malaysia Intellectual Property Creators Challenge (IPCC)-Computer Casual Games Competition in 2007.
IPCC is a platform for young talents to explore their potentials and gain the experience in producing content for the creative multimedia industry, said Badlisham.
The MSC Malaysia IPCC series is an initiative by the Creative Multimedia Department of the government agency Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) which aims to discover and enhance the capability of local talents in the area of creative content and of the development of new intellectual property (IP) and help spur growth in the creative multimedia industry under the MSC Malaysia Creative Multimedia Content Initiative (M-CMCI).
First local game for global audience
Zombie Gecko chief executive officer and game designer, Jordan Phang, said that Iceblast is the first game the company had developed for a global audience. Iceblast, gamers control three unique characters that must save the world from impending doom. Global warming has caused radical climate change and the world is freezing over! Strange ice crystals have started forming all over the globe and only the team of ice demolition experts can save the world from another Ice Age. The game in PC or MAC format is now available on the global game portals.
