Business continuity often confused with disaster recovery: FalconStor

AvantiKumar | June 6, 2011
FalconStor announces disaster recovery automation for physical and virtual environments in Malaysia.

"FalconStor Software pays proper respect to what is in place in a company," said FalconStor's McNeil. "Legacy systems doing backup for companies in Malaysia and Singapore have been in place for a long time. But the sheer volume of data and increased need for rapid recovery demands a newer approach in the form of efficient and virtualised networks."

"The backup window is gone and Tier 1 data (the information that must be protected in a business)," he said. "A Virtual Tape Library, which was invented by FalconStor, and the ability to deduplicate the data makes backup economically as feasible as reducing the quantity of data that needs to be stored to changes. This also means there is a faster access to data."

"We can guarantee a less than 10 minutes RTO if the data back is local" McNeil said. "FaconStor creates a local image copy and a backup through to a private or public cloud. What makes us different is we take pictures of the data and do not move the data."

"The future of data protection is complex and one that FalconStor believes should be envisioned as one of service," he said. "Customers think of service. We see service as a single entity, which is why FalconStor's Bluestone is a Web interface that gives you a view from a service perspective."

"Looking ahead, Bluestone is a Web interface that gives you a view from a service perspective, which we will launch in the fourth quarter of this year." McNeil added. "Next year, we will move into the area of service-oriented data management functionality and into our own branded positioning in the market while remaining committed to our partners."
