Come February 2, Singapore will be having its own version of Cyber Monday with the launch of the inaugural Great Online Shopping Festival.

Teaming up with DBS and SingPost, Google will be providing a platform where Singapore retailers can showcase their products, services and best deals.

Starting from midnight of Feb 2, this three-day online shopping extravaganza - also known as GOSF.SG - will bring deals from over 60 brands onto a common platform to customers across the country. Shoppers can dive into discounts and offers on everything from beauty to fashion, technology and travel.

Discounts include up to 90 percent off electronics, over 80 percent off fashion brands, up to 75 percent off travel deals, up to 70 percent off beauty products and many more from merchants such as Courts, Zalora, Agoda and Luxola.

The first 2,000 registered shoppers to spend over a total of S$168 (over multiple receipts) with their DBS/POSB cards will receive an additional 15 percent rebate, or up to S$100 off.

On the other hand, SingPost is offering its delivery and returns solutions to brands taking part in the festival. Besides this, SingPost is also offering online shoppers access to 90 POPStations - or smart locker stations - around the island, which will allow them to collect, pay and even return their purchases round-the-clock.

Additionally, brands powered by SingPost's end-to-end eCommerce service such as shop.adidas.com.sg, will be offering exclusive online pre-orders for their top-selling collections during the GOSF.SG, while cocomi.com will be giving away Pandora bracelets for a minimum spend of S$250.

This particular service, which is hosted on www.SPeCommerce.com, drives online shopping satisfaction by managing the entire customer journey - from web stores to doorsteps, said Marcelo Wesseler, SingPost's Senior Vice President of eCommerce.

He added that e-tailers need to understand the dynamics of customer expectations in order to stay on top of the evolving needs of online shoppers.

Growing trend of online shopping in Singapore

At a launch event held yesterday at the shopping district of Singapore in Orchard, Lim Bee Bee, Head of Marketing for Consumer Banking Group (Singapore), DBS Bank, commented on the rise of e-commerce in Singapore.

She said that the value of the e-commerce market in Singapore has hit S$4.4 billion last year, and this is a significant increase - a quadruple growth in fact - as compared to S$1.1 billion in 2010.
