SINGAPORE, 11 DECEMBER 2008 Datacraft has completed an IP VAS (value added service) network re-design for Indonesia's leading mobile operator, Telkomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel).
Datacraft is an IT solutions and services provider and a wholly owned subsidiary of Dimension Data.
Completed in eight months at a cost of over US$2 million, the implementation would improve performance, simplify network management and troubleshooting, said Datacraft.
According to the IT solutions provider, this complex multi-stage project entailed a site survey of the telecoms environment in 14 cities; design of an updated network topology and connection policy, followed by implementation of an upgraded infrastructure capable of handling demand for Telkomsel's digital services today and into the future.
The re-engineered VAS solution that emerged is a standardised, robust IP-based Layer 2 infrastructure that can deliver, monitor and manage business-critical services at today's traffic levels and at much greater transaction rates in the future, said the IT company.
Datacraft said that a pair of Cisco Catalyst 6506 switches features at key aggregation points on the network to ensure continuity and scalability. The aggregation points create a hierarchical network design that provides network segmentation or VLANS for each VAS application, it added.
