Linksys re-enters SMB market with new core networking and security products

Solutions launch make up first of three-phase return to this segment.

Linksys has re-entered the market for networking solutions for small and medium businesses (SMBs), according to a press statement by the subsidiary of Belkins International, a Los Angeles, California-based manufacturer of consumer electronics.

The company said Linksys' return has begun with its launch of a suite of core networking and security products.

The products that make up the first of its three-phase re-entry are the following:

  • Seven unmanaged switches, three of them having PoEs
  • Six smart switches, three of them having PoE+
  • Two VPN routers
  • Four Full HD IP surveillance cameras
  • A network video recorder
  • Two Wireless-N Wi-Fi Access Points
  • Two Wireless-AC Wi-Fi Access Points

The next two phases will consist of the implementation of a smart cloud-based networking management platform and the launch of full office automation solutions.

Unmanaged Gigabit Switches

According to the company's statement, the unmanaged Gigabit Switches consist of 5,8.16-port desktop and 24-port rackmount models, the 8,16 amd 24-port models having PoE+ (802.3at) versions.

On the other hand, the Linksys Smart Gigabit switches are available in the 8,18 and 26-port configurations, each with PoE+ versions to provide power to connected switches such as Wi-Fi access points or IP security cameras.

The press statement said the new VPN routers integrate Gigabit firewall, site-to-site VPN technologies into two single solutions.

With regard to the Wireless-N-Access point, the press statement said these 802.11n wireless technology enable fast streaming  of multimedia .

Likewise, the new Wireless-AC-Access Points are able to deploy a high speed network throughout the working environment or upgrade existing wireless connections to the latest 802.11 ac standard.

Meanwhile, the 1080p cameras are available in dome and bullet options that offer additional features such as night vision, weather sealing, IK10 vandal-proof housing and high maneuverability.

Their network video recorder provides up to 8TB of storage able to simultaneously record up to eight video feeds.

The new Linksys products will be available through all major distributors.
