Maxis rolls out second wave of Android-powered phones

KUALA LUMPUR, 7 SEPTEMBER 2010 -- Malaysian mobile communications provider Maxis has rolled out its second wave of Android-powered smart phones in response to growing demand in Malaysia, it said.

Maxis chief operating officer Jean-Pascal van Overbeke said the launch of the HTC Wildfire and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini from as low as US$176 (RM549), added to Maxis' growing range of innovative new Android phones.

"Maxis today offers the widest range of Android phones in Malaysia to its customers, including the HTC Desire, Samsung Galaxy S and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10," said van Overbeke. "The HTC Wildfire is exclusive to Maxis only. In addition to the new offers, Maxis introduced more flexible contract options of up to 24 months so that customers may enjoy more savings on upfront prices."

"With more than 6.6 million Maxis customers using the mobile Internet, we appreciate the role of good device design in giving customers their particular style and choice of enriched mobile experience in sharp living colour.

"To enjoy subsidised handsets, existing Maxis customers just need to sign on for any data bundle [500Mb, 1.5Gb or 3Gb] on a 12, 18 or 24-month contract," he said. "Meanwhile, new customers will need to sign on for any of Maxis' Value Plus plans [VP50, VP80, VP150, VP250 or VP500] and a data bundle [500Mb, 1.5Gb or 3Gb] on a 12, 18 or 24-month contract to enjoy the same privilege. All customers benefit from a US$3.21 [RM10] discount monthly on the data bundle with each contract signed."
