High temperature oxidation of tantalum carbide powder

The high-temperature oxidation of tantalum carbide (TaC) powder was investigated to determine the application of refractory materials for space crafts. TaC powder with an average particle size of about 10 Jim was used in this experiment. The samples were oxidized in air at 573 to 1273K for 5 min to 25 h. The weight changes were measured to estimate the oxidation properties. Exposed for short oxidation times of 5 min, started at 873K, and weight changes increased with increasing oxidation tempera

What is Tantalum Carbide

Tantalum Carbide (TaC) is a hard, brittle refractory ceramic with good electrical conductivity. It is an additive in high-temperature ceramics and aerospace industries for aircraft and rockets. It is odorless and brown-gray. Tantalum carbide is widely used as a sintering additive in ultra-high temperature ceramics or as a ceramic reinforcement in high-entropy alloys due to its excellent physical properties in melting point, thermal conductivity, thermal shock resistance, and chemical stability.

How strong is tantalum carbide?

What is Tantalum carbide ? Tantalum carbide is an ethereal, light-brown metallic cubic crystalline product that is part of the sodium chloride type cubic system. Also, Tantalum carbide can be used as a cemented carbonide sintered crystal growth inhibitor. This has a substantial effect on inhibiting the growth of crystal grains. It can be broken down and has a density 14.3g/cm3. Tantalum caride can withstand oxidation well and melts easily in potassium pyrosulfate. What's the c structure tan

The applications of Tantalum Carbide Powder

An overview of Tantalum Carbide Powder Tantalum carbonide powder Insoluble in water and almost insoluble with inorganic acids, but soluble and dissolves in mixed hydrofluoric and nitric acids. It can also be broken down. Potassium pyrosulfate is a strong antioxidant that can easily be melted and broken down. At room temperature, the resistance is 30O. This indicates superconductivity. The alloy can also be used for powder metallurgy as well cutting and fine ceramics. Chemical vapor

Is tantalum carbide coating widely used?

What is tantalum-carbide? Tantalum carbonide is an metallic cubic crystalline powder which forms a binary compound family with tantalum or carbon. They are very hard and fragile ceramic materials, with high metallic conductivity. They are typically sintered to make brownish-gray, powder-like particles. This belongs to the sodium-chloride cubic crystal type. Presently, tantalum carbide is used in cemented carbide sintered as a grain growth inhibitor. This significantly slows down grain growth

Why is tantalum carbide easy to be melted and decomposed by potassium pyrosulfate

What is tantalum-carbide? Tantalum carbide The advantages of (TaC ceramic particles include a high melting temperature (3880), high hardness (2100HV0.05), excellent chemical stability, strong thermal and electrical conductivity and good chemical stability. It is expensive and has other drawbacks, so only the use of nickel- or aluminium-based substrates was reported. Chao, along with others, have created nickel-based reinforced tantalum caride surface composites by laser cladding. Yu et. al.

Occurrence and Uses of zinc sulfide

Zinc sulfide occurs in nature in two crystalline forms: wurtzite and sphalerite. Sulfide ore is the principal zinc mineral. The most important use of Zinc sulfide is as a pigment. As lithopone, a mixture with barium sulfate, it forms a low gloss interior house paint. The "mineral white" dye combines zinc sulfide with zinc oxide. Zinc sulfide is incorporated into phosphors to produce luminescence when irradiated with light. It makes luminous dials, x-ray and television screens, and fluorescent li
