Online collaboration is now made more visual, creative, and even more effective with Autodesk moving the design, rendering, and simulation tasks from the desktop to the cloud.
Autodesk recently introduced a collection of cloud capabilities, products, and services -- simply called Autodesk Cloud -- that make it possible to do collaborative design and rendering practically from anywhere and at anytime.
With Autodesk Subscription cloud computing, designers and engineers can collaborate online using 3GB of online storage for each software licence. Autodesk users can access and store their work from anywhere and view their work from any Web browser or even a mobile device. For those needing to collaborate away from the desktop, Autodesk Cloud makes it possible for design creators to share their work with others, even those without Autodesk software, the company said.
Online collaboration is not new to Autodesk. A few years back, the software company introduced Autodesk Buzzsaw, a cloud-based application for the design industry. What's new is that Autodesk packaged Autodesk Buzzsaw with other cloud-based offerings under the Autodesk Cloud brand.
"For more than a decade, Autodesk has embraced the power of the cloud to extend the functionality of our design solutions and help our customers work more effectively," said Amar Hanspal, senior vice president, platform solutions and emerging business, Autodesk. "With Autodesk Cloud, we are demonstrating an even greater commitment to helping our customers solve the world's toughest design and engineering challenges."
Subscribers to Autodesk Cloud can also gain exclusive access to high-performance 3D visual communication, simulation, and collaboration services. Other exclusive services include powerful rendering capabilities; energy analysis capabilities; and access to document, data and design management solutions for architecture, engineering, and construction firms.
To be able to offer the cloud capabilities, Autodesk is working with industry partners, including Amazon and Citrix.
Amazon Web Services provides Autodesk customers global access, with Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and resilient storage capacity with Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and Elastic Block Store (EBS).
"Our relationship with Autodesk demonstrates how innovative and forward-thinking software companies can leverage the power of AWS to provide greater value to their customers," said Terry Wise, director, business development, Amazon Web Services. "We are pleased to work with Autodesk to provide secure, on-demand, pay-as-you-go cloud services, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the design and engineering market."
Autodesk Cloud was launched in several languages -- Czech, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, and Traditional Chinese.
