AvantiKumar | Jan. 27, 2010
Aimed at Malaysian large enterprises and SMEs
KUALA LUMPUR, 27 JANUARY 2010-- The first home-grown cloud computing-enabled Malaysian scalable online backup and recovery services has been launched, according to ICT infrastructure services firm HeiTech Managed Services (HMS), which is part of the HeiTech Padu group.

"The solution, branded as Padu*M.O.B.S., is powered by EMC Avamar technology, and designed to meet the data protection needs of large enterprises, as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia," said HMS chief executive officer, Abdul Halim Md Lassim. Previously, such protection was too costly. We recognised the urgent need for a scalable and cost-effective solution that can help them in managing their online back-up easily.

Halim said deployment of Padu*M.O.B.S. would empower companies by giving them a business edge over their competitors. Padu*M.O.B.S. was developed and enhanced with the needs of the end-users in mind. We believe this solution will give our customers a competitive advantage as it is a pay-per-use solution that enables them to only pay one cost based on the amount of data being backed up. In other words, customers do not need to make a capital expenditure nor invest in additional manpower.

EMC Malaysia managing director, Peter Goh, said: By using Padu*M.O.B.S., Malaysian companies can benefit from the security of high-end data protection in a way that also addresses their CIO's other concerns and priorities, Goh said. EMC's role as the technology partner of HMS allows both companies to pool our knowledge and engineering resources to bringing this innovative solution to the Malaysian market.

"Padu*M.O.B.S. is a very attractive solution for Financial Services Industries, manufacturing, SMEs and organisations with remote branches," said HMS's Halim. We are projecting sales of US$291, 971 (RM1 million) for 2010 and forecasting 20 per cent year-on-year growth. And, by 2012, we aim to generate three per cent of our total revenues through Padu*M.O.B.S.

Halim added that HMS and EMC Malaysia would jointly market Padu*M.O.B.S. By combining EMC's best-of-breed technologies with our more than 15 years knowledge and experience in providing infrastructure solutions, we are confident that Padu*M.O.B.S. will be the ideal solution for companies that want to benefit from the online information back-up service.
