SINGAPORE, 28 MARCH 2011 - The first application at the Apple iTunes store for data centre management was released last month (28 February 2011) by Raritan, a data centre management firm. The Raritan Power IQ iPhone application is said to provide data center managers real-time power information "on the go."
According to a statement by Raritan, the application also allows users to perform power control on any server or rack power distribution unit.
"Users now have a solution to view real-time power load and perform secure power operations on an outlet or multi-power-supply IT device, such as a server," said James Cerwinski, senior product manager in Raritan's power business unit.
"Power IQ iPhone app is designed to deliver key energy information and helpful management functions to data centre mangers when they want it," Cerwinski highlighted. "This app saves both time and effort," he added.
The application works on Apple-powered devices running iOS version 3.1 and higher.
