Apple has highlighted the impressive adoption rate of iOS 7 for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch

Apple on Thursday revealed that iOS 7 has seen an impressive 74 per cent adoption rate since it rolled out in September.

In a change to its developer website this week, Apple has said that its newest mobile operating system is now running on 74 per cent of iOS devices (as of 1 December), with just 22 per cent still running iOS 6 and the remaining 4 per cent on earlier versions.

That's an impressive figure to reach within less than three months. Apple released the significantly redesigned iOS 7 on 18 September alongside its new iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c.

According to Chitika Insights, iOS 6 had reached about 71 per cent adoption by 17 December 2012, after being released on 18 September of the same year, so iOS 7 has seen a marginally better adoption rate than its predecessor.

By comparison, Google said in September that only about 45 per cent of Android users were running Jelly Bean, the latest mobile operating system from the company at the time.
