Tegile's Cordero said, "The traditional approach has been to throw more disks at the storage challenge while our approach strongly differentiates us in what is a huge market. There is benefit from sourcing quality hardware from storage firms such as Western Digital and Sandisk. These companies also invest in Tegile and we have strong relationships with them."
He said the company sees Asia (including Malaysia) as a firm part of its expansion strategies. "For example, we are targeting a conservative goal of US$1 million revenue in Malaysia for the remainder of the year and are working to consolidating the interest in both Malaysia and Asia."
"Potential customers during the official launch were enthusiastic about our solutions," he said, citing a 2013 IDC report that the storage market was expanding at all levels of the big data technology stack and will increase at a compound annual growth rate of 53 percent between 2011 and 2016, in tandem with the explosion of data across all sectors.
Both Cordero and Impact Business Solutions' Chai described the initial revenue target for Malaysia as very conservative as they felt Tegile's offerings included first mover advantage.
During the official launch, Chai said Tegiles’s T-Series All-Flash and Hybrid Data Arrays will be generally available through Impact Business Solutions in Malaysia. "Our customers in Malaysia are facing challenges in exponential data growth and increasing demand for more efficient storage performance. Tegile's entry into the market is timely in meeting these challenges, especially in providing a flexible and powerful solution be it for enterprises or SMBs."
"We have already started talks with various government departments and will be spreading across sectors," said Chai, adding that the despite any softening of the local economy, "the completeness of Tegile's portfolio is already attracting deep interest.
Impact Business Solutions' team has made technical preparations to the extent of a knowledge database that was ahead of anything done elsewhere, added Tegile's Cordero.
"By adopting a Limited Distribution channel strategy, allows Tegile can focus its investments on partners with greater capabilities, which then also helps partners to realise greater returns on their own investments.," he said. "In Asia, we have also already made inroads into Taiwan, South Korea and Japan and will be looking to set up a regional centre in the near future."
