Canon Singapore said it has developed an application (app) that makes it easier for their corporate clients to order paper supplies from them, and have them delivered to an address of their preference.
The free Canon Order Express App is available for iPhone users and aims to help Canon corporate customers eliminate a tedious administrative task. Canon claims to be the first in the market to offer such an app.
Lim Kok Hin, vice president, business imaging solutions group, Canon South and Southeast Asia, said the application is their response to their customers' needs and takes into consideration the fact that customers are becoming more mobile, particularly in developed countries. In Singapore, for instance, smartphone penetration rates have reached 72 percent as of April 2011.
"Canon understands the needs of today's businesses, where speed, quality and reliability are critical for companies to efficiently respond to the demands of an increasingly global customer base. Raising productivity is a key business concern, and the launch of this app serves to equip companies with additional convenience," said Lim.
The iPhone app is a productivity tool that allows corporate customers to manage orders for Canon papers and have them shipped directly to designated addresses of their choice under a single account. Customers can also view and track their transaction history to review usage patterns. Invoices and queries to Canon can be received and sent through e-mail but confirmation through call centre is also available. Additional remarks, such as delivery instructions, may also be indicated in the order.
The app also acts as an inventory management application with information such as paper type, volume and time of purchase also available. Transactional orders of up to four months are available and repeat orders can be executed at a click of a button.
A minimum of 30 reams per order, or S$150 (U$119) in value, is required, and a minimum of five reams of each type of paper.
In the works is the capability to order other consumables through a smartphone.
