Cargo handling solutions company Cargotec has chosen Tata Communications as its wide area network (WAN) provider, Tata announced on 6 September.
Cargotec will use Indian telecommunications giant Tata to deliver WAN to about 150 Cargotec sites worldwide, the statement said.
Tata Communications was apparently chosen due to the company's "round-the-world" network which allows Cargotec to eliminate the use of multiple WAN providers and decrease the chance of network failure.
"The extent of a company's global reach and operational efficiency especially in emerging markets is largely dependant on the connectivity available to them in those regions," said vice president of managed network services for Tata Communications James Walker.
The uniformity of the network coupled with the multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) network will increase global efficiency for Cargotec, according to the announcement.
Tata Communications is the operator of the worlds first wholly owned subsea cable ring.
