Decoding Apple's 22 October event invite: hidden clues about new iPads

Ashleigh Allsopp | Oct. 17, 2013
What clues are in Apple's 22 October event invite? We puzzle over the latest cryptic invitation

New iPad mini colours?
We haven't heard many rumours or seen many leaks of a colourful iPad, but it is a possibility. Some expect that Apple will make a plastic iPad mini with a similar design to the iPhone 5c, but we don't think that'll arrive until next year, if at all.

Perhaps the colours are a hint at colourful new cases that will "cover" the new iPads, instead.

Alternatively, the colours could hint at a more vivid display for the iPad mini 2, which many are hoping for. But we're not entirely convinced that the iPad mini 2 will have a Retina display, as it could prove to be a costly addition. However, the invitation that accompanied the launch of the Retina display MacBook Pro was also brightly coloured.

Maybe a little farfetched but still a possibility is the relationship between the colours used in the invitation and the Aperture logo, as they're largely similar.

It's also been pointed out that the floating leaves are very similar to the Photos icon in iOS 7, so perhaps the iPads are about to get a camera upgrade.
