Fortinet's FortiAP points Malaysian retailers to a competitive edge

Networking security specialist Fortinet has unveiled seven new FortiAP Wireless LAN Access Points designed to help Malaysian retailers, branch offices and distributed enterprises realise enhanced secure access.

Fortinet's Malaysia country manager Michelle Ong said behind the new portfolio was an intention to help organisations in verticals such as retail, education and healthcare realign with the rapid pace of technological innovation and the always-connected generation.

"The launch of the new FortiAP Wireless LAN Access Points further bolsters Fortinet's industry-leading portfolio of hyper-secure solutions tailored for distributed enterprises," said Ong.

She said businesses know that they must innovate to stay ahead.  "Fortinet's solutions go a step further than the competition, providing advanced services like FortiGuard real-time threat research and intelligence, which streamline complex networking infrastructures to ensure no downtime or interference with existing applications."

Ong said that while businesses need to use new technologies to realise business opportunities while ensuring optimum security of assets.

"These solutions will also enable deep analytics that make an organisation's distributed network a competitive asset that delivers greater profitability," she said.

 Unified access layer

Ong said the new portfolio integrated "seamlessly with the built-in enterprise wireless LAN controller of the FortiGate appliance, allowing Fortinet to deliver a true end-to-end Unified Access Layer. This holistic approach helps businesses to easily manage wired and wireless security from a single management console and protects their network from the latest security threats that other security vendors might miss."

She said these new FortiAP Wireless Access Points deliver the security, throughput and resiliency to enable organisations to take advantage of the latest innovative wireless technologies, supporting dual and triple stream MIMO 802.11ac technology.

These security and performance features will help organisations to use innovative wireless technologies like Point-of-Sale (POS) and inventory systems for retail, connected medical equipment and physician kiosks for healthcare, or simply deliver robust BYOD [bring your own device] and mobility services without worrying about the integrity of their networks, said Ong.
