Social marketing firm Groupon Malaysia has announced its official application for the iPhone and iPod Touch in the Apple App Store, which would allow mobile customers to search for deals from around the world on their mobile device.
"Groupon continues to grow as the country's number one group buying platform," said Groupon Malaysia chief executive officer, Joel Neoh, speaking on 31 October 2011. "The new Mobile App lets us provide customers and merchants alike with even greater levels of accessibility and convenience while on the move."
Neoh said this move would allow a seamless buying and redemption process for both consumers and merchants. "Features of the new Groupon App include daily browsing of deals, as well as the mapping of local Groupons in real-time by activating the GPS feature to plot Groupon purchases closest to your current location."
"With more than 590,000 Groupon experiences purchased since the company began operations in Malaysia in January this year, group buying has grown to become a significant shaper of social e-commerce as more and more businesses adopt collective buying as instrumental features of their business models through Groupon Malaysia," he said.
"The Groupon phenomenon continues to grow at a wild pace here in Malaysia and the introduction of the Groupon Mobile App further underlines our commitment to ensuring that customers benefit not only from the best deals, but also from the best customer experience possible,"said Neoh.
Founded in Chicago in November 2008, Groupon is present in more than 45 countries and 500 markets worldwide, with more than 83 million subscribers.
